I take no idea what kind of a spider it could accept been but at first it looked similar a large musquito bite and then with in a few hours a large cicatrice formed (almost the size of a pea). The cicatrice bankrupt open and I don't know how to treat it. My son is 17months and the bite is on his lower leg.

Thank you for the helpful suggestions. I took him to the Drs first thing in the morning and he is on an antibiotic. Poor affair...he was also chip past his grandparent's domestic dog yesterday : ( It was a tough solar day for the piddling guy.

Well-nigh spider bites are pretty harmless and can be treated at home, others, like a brown recluse or blackness widow requires immediate medical attention. I know a woman who had to have role of her leg amputated b/c she didn't seek treatment fast enough for a brown recluse bite!
At least telephone call the pediatrician and meet what they suggest you to practise.

I would have your son to the Dr, or at least give them a telephone call. My son had a little bite on his lesser. Annotation sure if information technology was a spider bite, simply none the less, he ended up getting a staph infection. We all bear staph on our bodies. Just to ease your mind I would have him in.

Go it checked out with a medico. There is a very poisonous spider common in Texas called a brown recluse which likes nighttime places/closets/attics, etc. Harmless looking (brownish, looks like a common spider) but is poisonous and causes a terrible ulcer sore to form. My nanny was bitten in my home and was hospitalized.

I would take my kid to the Dr. as presently as I saw the bite become worse. Even if it meant going to someone other than my pedi. (Care Now, etc)

I merely got chip by a spider too on my bicep and it looked gross it puffed upwards to the size of a argent dollar and was raised, i went to Care Now and the md said information technology was an allergic reaction so he gave me foam for it and information technology went away very quickly it itched like crazy only they said not to crawling considering it would inflam information technology fifty-fifty more. I dont similar messin effectually with bites of whatever kind when i was younger i got bit by a spider on my knee and it caused three scarlet lines to outset going upwardly my leg i had to take a shot! I hope your son feels improve soon.

I always get spider bites, & I was bitten past a brownish recluse when I was younger. I almost lost my arm, & I accept a large scar on my arm that looks similar I dug out my pare with a spoon.
When I commencement observe them, I try to get the pus out. So I draw a circumvolve effectually the border of the red part. I wait & encounter how long information technology takes until it gets bigger...does that make sense? If the inflamation goes past my line quickly, then I need to get to a dr..
Now, I am in NO WAY A DOCTOR, and then accept your son to a dr. equally soon as you can. That's just the way I handle it at present, & they never get worse. I think my bite got worse when I was little because my mom didn't meet it until information technology got really bad.

When my two year old was chip, we went to the doc. We were told to proceed information technology clean and covered. They didnt requite me anything for it. This was several months ago and the scar is still there. I didnt put anything on it except soap and water.
Have a pen/marker and draw a circumvolve around it. If the bite gets bigger than the circle accept him in immediatly.

I have already prayed for him, at present here is my advise.
Because your son is only 17mo I would practice every bit suggested and accept him to a dr if you see it spreading in redness or if he has any other symptoms. Read online about dark-brown recluse spider bites for a while and you will soon realize that it is nothing to mess effectually with.
Since it formed a cicatrice and flare-up I would put neosporin (triple antibiotic ointment) on it until yous become him to a dr.
It may not exist a brown recluse and y'all may just need to care for information technology like you lot are trying to keep downwards infection and treat against an allergic reaction. If your son tin can take Benadryl by mouth utilize the recommended dose every four hours to reduce the histamine affect in his body. This will make him sleepy well-nigh likely, so don't exist alarmed near that. (I can't even take it without fighting to stay awake.)

It has always been my experience that to go to the dr office in the day is meliorate than waiting till the e.r. is the only choice at night. There are a lot more germs that he (and yous) would exist exposed to in the e.r. Then there is the waiting that is no fun for a sick child.
